THE AIRJAZZ STORY
Airjazz was born at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, in Boulder, Colorado. The founding (and only) members Kezia Tenenbaum, Peter Davison and Jon Held first performed as Airjazz in the summer of 1982 on the Pearl Street Mall. At present, Airjazz is 125 years old and weighs 403 pounds. Since 1992 they have not regularly performed as a trio. But on rare occasions one can find them discussing fantastic reunion plans over decaf coffee and buns. If they had real coffee, perhaps there might be a glimmer of hope. During the ten years of their glorious career they traveled the globe at other peoples' expense, performing in such exotic places as Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Poland, as well as much of western europe. Domestically they presented thousands if not hundreds of programs in communities across northern america. They made appearances on The Tonight Show and The Smothers Brothers show as well as on a dozen or so television programs outside the US. (One in Holland was a game show in which the contestants vied against one-another to see who was the best television game show host). Today Airjazz is but a tenuous thread of movement and style which is intricately woven into the delicate fabric of post-modern juggling.
In the year prior to the formation of Airjazz, Peter, Kezia, Jon and Barrett Felker all performed together on the Pearl Street Mall as The Boulder Juggling Company. See the Reviews page. It was the golden year of busking on Pearl Street.
